( In spite of Harold's research ). According to Henk Zwartenkot the album was officially released on april 8 or 9 1959. This record was part of a fund raising game called "alles op één kaart", (like the hazard-game, "everything on one card") which ran on dutch radio for 15 weeks from january 27 on. It was organised by several funds for youth health holiday centers. Those appeared in The Netherlands in the early twenties, but according to my mother it was particulary round 1948 that a lot of children had to go to such places to regain strength. That's what made me believe that the release date was much earlier. For a while I considered cutting the album into seperate tracks, but then you wouldn't have experienced a phenomenon I have encountered on several old dutch records: connecting tracks with "canned applause" I've cut out all the non-musical bits. The comical scene of Alexander Pola and Peter Piekos on side 1 and the radioplay of Conny Stuart, Ko van Dijk, Johan Kaart and Joop Doderer on side b are therefor not included. Rita Reys' contribution has also been removed, because I don't like her singing very much (to put it mildly, but some of you appaerently disagree with me here). |
