Visiting Splogman's world made me remember a certain CD from 1993 a few times: "de zwembadpas" (the swimming pool walk) that was mentioned in splogman's log and the recorder music in 52 weeks.
For me these two things were connected to "Kees de Jongen" (Kees the boy, kees is pronounced as case), yes there has been a movie based on this book of Theo Thijssen, but I mean the music theatre piece with music of Willem Breuker (quality garanteed) which I saw back in 1993 in Amsterdam in which the musicians are actors too. It was mag-ni-fi-cent.
The second piece is "the swimming pool walk". The third piece here is "De Klas" (The class) and it's played by all the musicians, acting as classmates, all on recorder. Maybe it's because I've been a school missy for so long and I've been teaching recorder as well, but each time I hear this piece I can't help being touched. Anyway, I think it takes courage for someone like Willem Breuker to let your orchestra members play such a piece on an instrument they're not specialized in.
(Splogman: Willem Breuker is also the man behind My baby has gone to the schouwburg from day 189 of the 365 days project that recently has come back online!!!)
