ABBA voor kinderen (original Abba-songs sung in dutch by De Leidse Sleuteltjes conducted by Henk Franke) There's this phenomenon which in Holland often is called "Hits for kids": commercially succesfull songs sung by children, sometimes with the original lyrics, sometimes with adapted and/or translated words. I find most of this genre not very good. The only one I really like is "Hit te petit" by Kinderkoor Jacob Hamel(the mp3s of that page are back online this week) but that was long ago. Abba has made a lot of hits that appearently were very suitable for this kind of modification. We've seen and heard an exemple of that on september 24, day 267 of 365 days. (By the way also adults are singing translated and/or adapted versions of ABBA-hits as Salma & Sabina showed on april 3, day 093 of the same project and also on April Winchell's multimedia site.) The following tracks are taken from "ABBA voor kinderen" (Abba for kids) from 1981, performed by a Children's choir in Leiden. The dutch lyrics are by Pieter Goemans, who has written a lot of commercial children lyrics, but these are not his best ones, just like the accompaniment and the singing isn't really outstanding, but at least they didn't let half naked little girls sing "gimme gimme gime a man after midnight", like the Mini pops. Goemans let them sing things like "Look, there's the little gnome" and "Won't you come to my birthday party?". From the liner notes we can only learn that the idea for this album came from Cees Kerkhof, the sleeve was designed by Jan van Uden and Frederico (F. Balke) made the illustrations. |

Henk Franke Er bestaat een fenomeen dat hier in Nederland wel "Hits for kids" genoemd wordt: succesvolle popliedjes vertolkt door een kinderkoor in het Nederlands, soms met aan kinderen aangepaste teksten. Naar mijn smaak wordt dit meestal niet zo mooi gedaan. De enige waar ik echt enthousiast over ben is "Hit te petit" door Kinderkoor Jacob Hamel maar die is wel van erg lang geleden. Een groep wiens muziek zich hier kennelijk erg voor leent is ABBA. Wij zagen en hoorden dit al op 24 september 24, dag 267 van "365 days". (Trouwens blijkt in dat zelfde project dat volwassenen Abba ook graag vertalen/aanpassen. Salma & Sabina doen dat in het hindi op 3 april, dag 093 en meer van dit duo is te beluisteren op April Winchell's multimedia site.) De volgende tracks zijn van de LP "ABBA voor kinderen" uit 1981, gezongen door de Leidse Sleuteltjes, o.l.v. Henk Franke. De nederlandse teksten zijn van Pieter Goemans, een naam die ik weleens eerder in kindermuziekland ben tegengekomen ook teksten heeft , maar dit hier zijn, niet zijn meest geslaagde gedichtjes, als ik zo vrij mag zijn en ook de begeleiding en de zang is wat slapjes op deze plaat, hoewel alles beter is dan kleine meisjes half naakt te laten zingen dat ze "een man nodig hebben na middernacht", zoals bij Britse Minipops het geval was. |  |

| This week's record was badly damaged and three of the songs I couldn't repair acceptably. So here are two consolation tracks in the same genre, taken from the very limited release CD "Mijn oom is een dinosaurus" (My uncle is a dinosaur), which I recorded especially for two small family members. De plaat van deze week was erg beschadigd en daarom kon ik jullie niet alle liedjes aanbieden. Als troost-tracks volgen nog twee liedjes van de zeer-beperkte-oplage-CD "Mijn oom is een dinosaurus", die ik speciaal maakte voor twee kleine familieleden. 8. Oh wat lief oh wat braaf original title: Obladi oblada dutch lyrics meaning: almost the same as the original: "Oh how sweet, oh how well-behaved, what a cuties, there's nothing to worry about!" Boy knows girl. She knows his mother, so they go out. he works at the supermarket, she does so too and she sings in a cover band, he buys her a golden ring and happily she starts to sing, In couple of years they will be married and kids will run in the yard. He keeps his job, she keeps the house clean and still there's nothing to worry about for they're sweet and well-behaved... 9. Lopen op de maan original title: Walking on the moon dutch lyrics meaning: "Walking on the moon". I would like to walk on the moon. It is such a great place. You can jump very high there. It's so much fun! But, oh dear, the moon has no toilet: hold it up! |
