Adventure

'Mens sana in corpore sano' my sports teacher always said. So I played softball in the school team for 2 years, did 4 years of fencing and some years of karate too. At school there was the opportunity to join mountaineering and sailing camps, so I sevarl times went on mounaineering in the German Eifel. But as high as a mountain as deep as a cave, so speleology was done too.

"Sitting on the groud, laying on the beach, not for me. Active holidays, that's life, so I decided to get my sky diving wing. No fear on the ground, no fear in the air, but frightened when the little door opens. "Ready-go!", and flying through the air. Proud of my wing, it stills itches to 'go up', because now Í know that the sky is no limit, and each morning I can say  "skydivers know why birds sing"..

On land and in the air, and before I realized I found myself on teh water, with the Sea Scouts. First in Maastricht, later in venlo. Enthousiastically I got my boat drivers license and my VHF-radio certificate in a very short time. Later I got boat driver licences for rowing and outboard motor too. Despite of two weeks sailing instructions at Scouting Netherlands Sailing  School , I only passed the theoretticaly examinations, but didn't practise.

Kayaking too, on more wild water was a chellange. Rivers in the Belgium Ardennes and German Eifel like Ourthe , Ruhr and Lesse were taimed. While these rivers were great, the kayaking sport is not exactly what I like.

Biking and hiking, you can do it, starting at home, every day in all wheater conditions. So I do on vacation. Except wondering the beautifull surroundings, cultural heritage and nature, long walks and cycletours make weekends and holidays to a great joy.

Besides mountainbiking and cycling, skeelering is a nice means of passing the time and to stay fit..

.... backpacking and...

life saving to get and to stay in a good shape, but also to readch a helping hand where neccesary.
