Aletta GP

Preamble;

As some of you might know Harley Davidson did win the 1974 1975 and 1976 world championship with their 2 stroke 250cc and 350cc motor. But that's the end of a long story. I'm going take you back in time a bit and just briefly. In the early sixties Harley  Davidson bought it self into the Italian Aermacchi Factory. They build some fine 4 stroke race motors first 250cc and later 350cc. But didn't have a 125cc racer then, that changed as they introduced their new street bike called Rapido ( US ) / Aletta ( Europe ) which had a 125c 2 stroke engine. Along with the introduction of the street model they also build a road racer based upon the Aletta. That's the one these pages will be about. To end this story the 125cc 2 stroke engine developed into a nifty 250cc twin as they put two Aletta engine's together, later on it became a water cooled engine and grew to a 350cc and they even made a few 500cc twins with 4 (!) carburetors.
