The Sugarettes hebben diepe wortels in het Eindhovense ondergrondse : de band bestaat in de kern
uit zanger/gitarist Joep van Son (Thuss / voormalig Microgenius) en zangeres/gitarist Iskaa (foam /
voormalig Microgenius), die de samenwerking van jaren terug hebben opgepakt. Beiden werken ze
door de stapel liedjesschetsen van Joep heen, om het beste af te maken tot aanstekelijke, vuige
popmuziek. Marnix van den Broek(foam / Airbus) heeft zich bij hen gevoegd om de drumloops van
Joep te herinterpreteren en -programmeren, terwijl Lucien Kleintjes (Bad Cheetah) het materiaal
opneemt en produceert.

The Sugarettes zullen in het najaar van 2006 een aantal optredens doen en tegelijkertijd de opnamesessies
voor een debuutalbum starten. Het plan is, om tegen die tijd The Sugarettes aangevuld te
hebben met ARRs bassiste Cox Dieben.

welcome to sweet sugarettecity, the home of The Sugarettes
are the result of foam's singer Iskaa rejoining forces with Joep van Son, guitarist of Thuss and foam's precursor Microgenius. Both have known each other for years and have now picked up again on the musical vibes that bind the two together.
Joep had already begun recording a huge variety of songs on his digital 8 track , when Iskaa took his side to help finish the songs and to add her personal melodic and lyrical touch. She took her drummer Marnix van den Broek (foam / Airbus) along to reprogram Joep's drum loops and after a short period of rehearsals they locked themselves in the attic studio of their producer, Bad Cheetah's Lucien Kleintjens, until the sugarettecity demo was finished.
The result is a compact disc with four songs that combine a raw musical drive with a great sense formelody and a defined taste of pop music. It contains traces of blues, it rocks, it sings about love and other perversities, it is lo-fi, compact, energetic and projects an ambitious DIY and Do It Good attitude.
The Sugarettes will be performing live in the autumn of 2006, parallel to starting new recording sessions for their debut album. ARRs bass player Cox Dieben will have joined The Sugarettes line-up by that time.
