Welcome! On this site I want to give an impression of the things I make with Paverpol and Pretex. Furthermore I make decorations of various kinds of materials. Almost every Wednesday-morning you can find me and my mum (Hetty) on the attic, where I have a small workroom. We mainly make dolls. The frame for the doll is made of installation wire. This frame is wrapped with tinfoil to give the doll its shape. Then the doll is bent into the right position. Next, the frame is wrapped in bands of T-shirt fabric which are drowned in Paverpol or Pretex. These are so called fabric hardeners. For clothes we also use T-shirt fabric or supple cotton which we cut in pieces. Only seldom we sew the clothes before hand. All of it is being freshened up with laces and ruches. Everything is designed after our own ideas. As said before, we work with Paverpol or Pretex. This is a transparent glue like substance. We always use a black pigment powder but different colours are possible. To make the substance a little easier to handle we add a dash of water. If you want to place your work outdoors you have to add a special hardener. Therefore we always use Pretex for outdoor pieces because with Pretex you don't have to add anything extra. Pretex is available in different kinds of colours but in the end it becomes less hard as Paverpol. After letting our work dry for a week we brush it with golden paint to give it a bronze like radiation. At last the whole thing is varnished with mat lacquer. For outdoor pieces we naturally use special outdoor varnish. If you keep your work indoors, you can also use hairspray instead of varnish. About 7 times a year we go to a workshop and work with various materials. Results of these workshops are also shown on the page "Heidi's dolls". I hope my site will inspire you. Greetings, Heidi Smit
