Below is a summary of highlights we experienced during our holidays from 1999 thru 2004. In general we experienced a laid back atmosphere with friendly helpful people. Mostly in rural areas we experienced life to be dirt cheap, non-commercial and soaked in Catholic religion. We also discovered the great past of the country with lots of history and the richness it had when it was a world wide trading nation. Today we see the rapid development of the country into a full grown EU member. We did a lot of camping in the whole of the country, starting in the very north in Caminha /Villar de Mouros and the following years in Sátão /Lamas, Santarem /Alpiarça , Pombal/Lourical and this year the Algarve.
