CIAF 2004 Impressions at Brno-Turany Airport Czech Republic 3 - 5 September 2004 (Part 2)

By Esther & Martin Scharenborg

The following pages will give a small impression what was to be seen during the Czech International Air Fest 2004 at Brno-Turany airfield. bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb

Pictured above is a F-16A of 140 squadron which is called "The Golden Eagle Squadron" of the Israeli Defence Force based at Nevatim in central Israel. Clearly visible is the eagle in the tail, part of the colourfull camouflage on this aircraft. (Picture: Martin Scharenborg/Global Aviation Review)

The Israeli Air Force played a large role during the CIAF 2004. Displayed outside were the three aircraft of the IDF/AF (F-16A/B & C-130E). In front of the Hercules a display was given to illustrate the tasks of the IDF/AF. This was eagerly visited by the enthousiast crowd. Inside the Hercules a cinema was installed which showed nice films about again the IDF/AF and its (humanitarian) role.

This C-130E Hercules belongs to the Ben-Gurion (Tel-Aviv) based 103 squadron called "The Elephants". It was put on static display during CIAF 2004. It housed inside a huge cinema to display IDF/AF tasks. (Picture: Martin Scharenborg/Global Aviation Review)

The other F-16 put on display was a F-16B of the Nevatim based 116 squadron called "The Flying Wing Squadron". You can see it's red badge along with the "Flying Wing" camouflage in it's tail. (Picture: Martin Scharenborg/Global Aviation Review)

Other interesting aircraft were ofcourse the earlier mentioned Serbian & Montenegro Air Force aircraft coming from Batajnica Air Force Base.

A very rare aircraft is this NJ-22 Orao Strike & Attack plane of the RV i PVO. It's counterpart is the similar Romanian built IAR-93DC (Dupla Controla) which indicates this is a twin-seat or trainer version. (Picture: Martin Scharenborg/Global Aviation Review)

The Serbian transportfleet also houses at Batajnica Air Force Base. This pictured Antonov 26 Curl belongs to the 677. Trae (Labudovi/ "Swans" squadron) (Picture: Martin Scharenborg/Global Aviation Review

After the display of the Serbian Air Force Super Galeb G4, the pilot halted it's aircraft in front of the VIP-area, opened it's canopy and stood up from it's ejection seat proudly showing the Serbian & Montenegro Flag! The fighter pilots did not wear badges on their flying suits. It is believed that they belong to the Batajnica based "VOC" Aviation Test Center.
