Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel
(You can listen hard but never hear a sound)

The new DVD of Steve Harley...    soon to be available in any shop

A FILM of rocker Steve Harley’s show-stopping appearance at last year’s Isle of Wight festival is to be released on DVD on May 23. One of this year’s most eagerly anticipated music releases, ‘Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel – Live At The Isle Of Wight Festival’ will be his first ever live DVD.

Released by top indie music label  DVD UK Ltd, it will include many of Harley’s best-known songs including the rock classic ‘Make Me Smile (Come Up And See Me)’ which went to No 1 in the UK and several European countries in 1975.

The track is regularly voted one of the top singles of all time while music industry organisation The Performing Rights Society has confirmed it as one of the most played records in the history of British broadcasting.
The song has been covered more than 100 times in seven languages and has been featured in several movies including The Full Monty (whose soundtrack album went Triple Platinum in the
UK and Platinum in the USA and Australia ), Velvet Goldmine, Best and Saving Grace. The song has also been used on more than twenty TV and radio advertising campaigns around the world.

To mark the 30th anniversary this year of the hit, Harley is releasing a new version of the track on June 20 while in the autumn he will have a new album of original songs titled ‘The Quality Of Mercy’.

Harley is still hugely in demand as a live performer and this year will be playing 70 + live concerts including ‘The Quality of Mercy’ tour in the autumn. As a gesture to rock memorabilia fans, he has given five stage costumes that he wore in the 70’s to Bonham’s, which will be auctioning them on April 27 with part of the proceeds going to charity.  Steve has written lyrics for several other major artists including his old friend Rod Stewart who has called him “One of the finest lyricists the UK has ever produced.

‘Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel – Live At The Isle Of Wight Festival’ is being released in DTS Surround Sound and Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound. Bonus features comprise set up and sound check, an 18-minute interview with Harley and a bonus track of Death Trip – the first time this 10-minute opus has been performed in 30 years.
