It Ain't Half Hot Mum

- Introduction -

It Ain't Half Hot Mum is a British Comedy written by the 2 golden boys of the BBC, Jimmy Perry & David Croft. It is set in former British India during World War 2. It's about a group of men who entertain the front soldiers, they are called the Royal Artillery Concert Party. The Battery Sergeant Major is a true soldier and wants to go to the front with the Concert Party, but he never managed to persuade the Colonel and the Captain.

The first episode was aired on 3 January 1974, 56 episodes followed until the show ended on 3 September 1981.

Truly one of the best British Comedy's ever, nearly 17 million British watched the show and it was the sitcom with 2 languages, English and Urdu (the native Indian language).

Due to the fact that it was a really popular comedy, BBC decided after the show was ended that It Ain't Half Hot Mum was a racist show, because of portrayal of the Indians and the homofobic language. In fact, the show wasn't racist at all, because the white officers where the really dumb persons in the show, the Indians where much more intelligent on some fronts.

Until today, the BBC refuses to rerun the Sitcom or to release it on DVD. There are some video's, but they are all deleted from the catalogue....
