* CREATING MANDALAS * I have spent many years of my life creating mandalas, starting in 1970 with oilpaints, and with indian-ink in 1975. In the summer of 2003 I started using colorpencils as well. I experience mandala making as a way of centering oneself. The concentration which is needed is like a training of the mind, learning how to focus one's attention on the here and now. I experience this as a form of meditation, a way of reaching inner peace and balance. My work is inspired on the sacred geometric art found in many cultures. ******* Let there be Peace and Harmony. ******* Ik begon met mandala's te schilderen in 1970. In 1975 begon ik ook met oostindische inkt te tekenen en in de zomer van 2003 ben ik kleurpotloden gaan gebruiken. Mandala’s kunnen gezien worden als het onderliggende patroon van alles in het universum, zowel fysiek, mentaal als spiritueel. Mandala’s laten ons de onderlinge verbintenis van alle wezens zien en ook de samenhang die verscholen ligt onder de schijnbare chaos. Ik ervaar mandala's maken als een manier om zichzelf te centreren. De concentratie die hierbij nodig is, is als het trainen van de geest om de aandacht te leren richten op het hier en nu. Ik ervaar dit als een vorm van meditatie, een manier om innerlijke vrede en evenwicht te vinden. Mijn werk is geinspireerd op de geometrische kunst uit vele culturen.
