Plain Polkadot Script

This script mainly saves the user a few steps in creating a polkadot pattern using the Halftone Effect. Its default settings will create a seamless pattern of polkadots, the user chooses the polkadot color. The background layer and the polkadot layer are not merged.

The resulting 200ppi 600x600 new image can be used as is, or as a pattern on another image.

Beginner steps for the latter:
  • open or create an image you want to apply a polkadot effect on
  • run the PolkadotPlain script - it will create a new image
  • activate your original image and create a New Raster Layer (Layers, New Raster Layer)
  • activate the Flood Fill Tool
  • click on the Foreground swatch of the Materials Palette
  • activate the Pattern tab and find the polkadot image
  • left-click on your image to fill the new layer with the polkadot pattern

  • See the screenshots below for these steps plus examples of a pattern angle and Layer Blend Mode settings

    Splotchy Polkadots Script

This script creates a new image with a single layer seamlessly filled with fuzzy or 'splotchy' polkadots. The user chooses the polkadot color.

    Suggested uses:
  • create a new layer above the polkadot layer
  • flood fill the new layer with a color, gradient, or pattern
  • experiment with the Layer Blend Modes in the Layers Palette (View, Palettes, Layers)

  • create a new layer and drag it underneath the polkadot layer
  • flood fill this layer with a single color
  • activate the polkadot layer (Layers Palette, click on layer name)
  • set the polkadot Layer Blend Mode to Luminance(L)

  • run the script
  • open a photo
  • create a new layer on the photo
  • activate the Flood Fill Tool
  • in the Materials Palette, under the Pattern tab, find the polkadot image
  • left-click on your photo to fill the new layer with the polkadot pattern
  • experiment with the Layer Blend Modes in the Layers Palette (View, Palettes, Layers)

  • See the screenshots below for steps similar to these

    Disco Polkadot Script

This script needs an open image to work on. It will create a new layer filled with ringed polkadots in bright orange to green shades. The Blend Mode of this layer is set to Hard Light, which can and probably should be changed by the user because the outcome highly depends on the content of the layer below. The script lends itself best for single color or abstract backgrounds.

The screenshots below are of two 600x600 pixel images and a 1280x960 photo on which the script was run. Different Layer Blend Modes were used on each.
