SATIN MINT TEXT SCRIPT
INTERMEDIATE LEVEL - PERSONAL USE ONLY

This script creates beveled satiny text from the font Mama on an existing image.

You will need to download my satin mint text script. Click the link to save the zipfile to your system. Unzip it to your Scripts-Trusted folder. Alternately, you can download this tutorial plus the script in one zipfile.

You will also need the font Mama, which can be downloaded from -among others- these sites:

The steps

  • Open a new image.
  • Run the jbc satin mint text script from the Script Toolbar or File/Script/Run
  • Click OK in the Font Browser that comes up.
  • Enter your text in the next dialog.


    • already named layers
    As you can see, I have linked and named the layers for convenience. You can use the invisible vector layer with the original text to add other effects. One way to do this is to duplicate the vector layer, convert the duplicate to a raster layer and move that up visible in the layer stack.

    Beware that the gradients on this text make the image large in filesize. Even a short word, when optimized as a jpg without losing its softness, will quickly run into 50kB.
    Other font types

    It is possible to run my script with fonts other than Mama. When you run the script interactively it will give you access to cutout, bevel and shadow settings. This will be necessary for wider or narrower font types.
