Memories from way back when…
Anyone who has memories or experiences of past chess nights…
Please Email them to O&O, they will be published here…!

John KleinDouwel (Oss?)
"Back than there was 1 remark. "Kampen is rotten in the morning". As one drove into Kampen this was said on a wallpainting. At 1 of those Chess Nights we visited a pub as we the tournament was rescheduled. After several beers I was in company of a local beauty. Three hours later I had to bang on the door of the tournamentroom, I was let into the room and into the tournament again as the finals were about to begin. This expression about Kampen ("Kampen is rotten in the morning!") has always been in my memories."

Willem Broekman (Zoetermeer)
"We will participate again! We have been regular guests and participated in many chess nights in Kampen. Always special to walk into the night, specially at 4 AM.I saw Böhm playing Blitz against, I believe, Robbie Hartog. Robbie was careless in putting the pieces straight up. Böhm took the clock away, above their heads and waited until all the pieces were back in the original position. Greetings Bernard Bannink & Willem Broekman."

Gert-Jan Ludden (Warnsveld)
"I have very good memories of this tournament. I believe I even won it once. I am not sure anymore when it was. Your statistics will show, I am sure. With kind regards en greetings, and good luck with the organisation."

The webmaster of the site has received two names of former participants. They can expect a phone call or email for a little interview about how the former tournaments used to be…
