Episode Butler is a tool to automatically fetch new episodes of your favorite shows from usenet. It remembers which episodes you already downloaded and monitors usenet index sites to see if a new one is available. It also knows when new episodes are aired tries to download these when they are available. New episodes are passed to your favorite newsgrabbing tool so it can be downloaded from the newsgroup its posted in without any user interaction.
As everybody probably already knows, newzbin is no more. I've been very busy implementing other index sites. Currently only nzbs.org and nzbMatrix are supported and for nzbMatrix you will need a vip acount.
It's been a while, and I've been doing a lot. The upcoming release of SABnzbd 'forced' me to finally wrap it up into a new release. The last week I've been testing this new version with a group of testers and today I finally got confirmation a large nasty bug was fixed. I hope everyone will like the new version. It has some major changes which will, in my opinion, make it more usable and better configurable for most users.
Some changes by Newzbin turned out to be rather disastrous for the Episode Butler. A quick intervention by the Newzbin developers and the addition of some extra configuration got the Episode Butler working again, but a lot of users still reported problems. With the release of 0.9.065 I hope these changes are fixed to. The search is reimplemented and now uses the more reliable API instead of the feeds. Also the handling of found episodes is changed so they do not get lost when something goes wrong during the search. All in all the Episode Butler is now more robust than before the CSV bug popping up.
Finally yet another update. There aren't much changes but I think this version will be welcomed with open arms by a lot of expert users. I exposed a few configuration options in property files. This makes it possible to change the search query that's fired to Newzbin.
Since non of the beta testers found big issues there was no reason to keep you waiting.
A few weeks back I installed bugtracker and searched through all the posts at deadite and my mailbox to gather all the bugs and feature request. The last few days I've been busy prioritizing and implementing / fixing them. I hope I can send out the 0.8 version to some beta testers this weekend. Some of the changes are:
Today I decided to put up some bloglike news items on the frontpage. That way you can see what's going on and what I'm working on. I have no idea what the frequency will be, but we'll just have to see how it goes.
