    New motor block arrived!!!!!!

    Gear problems discovered.

After using the train alone, with no load, I was surprised that the PA-1 Unit had problems holding speed. After a certain time ( half hour investigating time ) I heard a sound that is related to an gear problem.

After inspecting the gear box, I found a hot motor and a sheered of gear. After testing a found that the motor of this particularly gear box was running slower than the other one in this unit and became hot in a short time.

My first conclusion is that the motor became hot because of a problem in the motor. Not in the gear box, everything runs smooth there. Heat from the motor was transferred through the motorshaft to the metal worm gear. The gear on the axle with anti-slip tires was the one with that received the most stress. When the metal worm gear was heated enough the gear failed under the excessive load generated.

Parts that should replaced are the motor and both gears that run on the metal worm gear
