Swinging Shepherds.

As you may expect from the Hoempa Music Corporation we have arranged once more a very special production: Percussion-group with.....ORGAN!

Christmas concerts very often take place in Churches, and over there you may well find a beautifull Organ being installed. Would'nt it be a shame not to use this beautifull instrument? And, if there is no Organ at the place where you want to perform your concert, well, isn't there always somebody with a keyboard arround?

Swinging shepherds start with a slow intro, where upon the Organ starts with a traditional Dutch Christmas song. The Song tells the traditional story about the Shepherds, being visited by an Angel who tells them to go and find the young-born Jezus in a manor.  What is not told in this traditional sory, is that the sphepherds, after visiting Jezus, for joy went on the swing: to the Caribean! Well, just listen to our Musical production "Swinging Shepherds", and you will never forget this happy ending of the traditional Christmas Shepherds story!

I kept all rhythms and melodies very simple, such that also for a starting percussiongroup it should not be too difficult to have a succesful performance. Have fun with it!

Midi:

If you want to hear how the Shepherds went on the swing; well just click here. Pleas remember: what you here is only a MIDI file; this has its limitations. It sounds much more briljant if you play it yourself, using real musical instruments!

Performance:

For the performance of this work you need the following instruments: Glockenspiel, Marimba, Snare drum(s), Tim-Tom, Templeblocks, Triangle, Vibraslab, Castagnettes, Maracas, Bongo's, Basedrum, Conga's, and of course an Organ or a keyboard.

For a complete performance you need 11 percussion players and one organist/keyboard player.

Below you can find all sheetmusic of the Swinging Shepherds, as JPEG files.  Use any printing program to make papercopies.

Have fun with it and give us an e-mail on the date, time and place of the performance. Who knows, perhaps we come and listen.
