Quirks and Features

The Bad

Controller configuration of steering allows analog stick only (no D-pad).
Manual Load from Title Screen > Options only (not from within various modes).
Prize car raffle doesn't always unlock a car (gives a feeling of being cheated).
Unrealistic oversteer makes most cars feel like they're driving on ice.
"Change Car" costs a week, so you can't choose a car for the current week's races.
Minor discrepancy: the 1966 Mustang is actually a 1965 model.
Dauer can't be entered in RS RWD series, but is part of the competition.

The Good

Only need to unlock a car once (colors can be chosen at will).
Works with the Logitech Driving Force steering wheel.
Shows brake and accelerator gauges (handy for checking that pedals or buttons are working properly).

Strategies For Various Goals

Car Collection

Choose a race where the competition includes the cars that you want
Finish 4th or better for the car raffle
Repeat the previous steps until you have all the desired cars

Car Upgrade

Choose a race that's fairly easy to win
Avoid hitting anything

High Rank

Start with lots of EnthuPoints
Choose a car that's less competitive
Choose a race where the odds are high
Don't worry about hitting things; just concentrate on winning the race
Finish 4th or better for ranking points

Race Car Collection

Achieve a Top 50 ranking and finish 4th or better in an RS event of month 04, 06, or 08 to unlock a race car
Alternatively, get into a Honda NSX Type R, look for the One-Make race, and finish 4th or better to unlock an Audi R8
Use the unlocked race car to unlock other race cars (see "Car Collection" above)
For cars that can't be unlocked in the Race Car Series or Rally Car Series, you'll need to unlock them in the RS events (see below)
For the BMW 3.0 CSL, get into a BMW M3 Sport Evolution, look for the RI grade "Good Old Touring Car Race" at Nurburgring, and finish 4th or better

Miscellaneous

The date at the top right of the screen is in the form yy/mm/ww.
"Change Car" costs a week, so plan ahead.
Look for One-Make races; they sometimes unlock rare cars.
RS events (see "Records > Calendar") are worth trying; points are high and some championships (RWD, FWD, 4WD) unlock race cars.
For Mirage Crossing, set Traction and Acceleration to maximum.
Use "Garage > Test Run" for practice and testing.
For easy upgrades, do Speediapolis Ring.
