Prepare
How are we going to cope and deal with this issue? What can you do yourself? You might think there isn't much you can do, since you don't have political influence. Although this is true to some extent, there are some actions you can take to protect your financial and social situation short term. (5 - 10 years)
TALK ABOUT IT
First of all, get the word out. Inform family and friends. Send them a link to this website or print out the introduction and let them read it. Also make them aware of the enormous amount of facts, charts and other evidence that is out there. Buy them a book on the issue... Discuss it at the dinner table. Do expect denials or uninterested reactions though. I have experienced this with many of my friends. They laugh and tell me not to worry. They're 100% sure that it will 'last our lifetimes' and that there will be enough energy for another 50 years at least. The sad truth is.., there won't.
INVEST
To protect your financial situation, it might be a wise choice to invest some of your savings in real value like silver and gold. When oil prices will rise, so will the cost of everything else. This results in massive inflation (current inflation is already on the rise). When we take a look at history, gold and silver do pretty well in economic recessions. The price of gold and silver went through the roof in the 1930's (great depression) and late 1970s (the oil boycots). I cannot guarantee you a rise in gold an silver prices over the next years. I'm just saying its likely. Read this article about silver investment by Matt Savinar for more information. Real estate is expected to do pretty well too.
OTHER
Other things that might be worth buying are bicyles, solar panels, mechanical tools, medical kits and a water filter. These things might become scarce in the future.
