Tuapse, a sea port, a centre of Tuapse district in the Krasnodar region, is located on the seashore of the Black sea for Kaukasus.
Nearest cities are Krasnodar, Novorosissk and Sochi.
It was founded in 1838 as a settlement around the Russian military fortification named Velyaminovsky.
Tuapse was raised into the status of a town in 1916. The modern Tuapse with a population of 65700 is a centre of resort zone.
The main places of interest are the Theatre of Young Spectator, the Historical Museum of Local Lore, the Arts Museum.
Summers are tropical warm, about 40 degrees Celsius.
Winters normally are without snow
but of course there are some exceptional years where even in March snowflakes can fall down from the sky like in 2003.
When you want to see something from the country side and smell the air of Russian traditional
culture, then Tuapse is really worth to visit.
Little shops with all kinds of traditional products opened till late in the evening,
even on Sunday.
It's a mountainous area where climbing is one of the possibilities near to the Black Sea
where you can take a fresh dive.
The same as in other Russian parts, hospitality of the local citizens is common.
Several hotels in 3 or 4 star arrangement are present like Karavella, Molnia and Smena.
Also it is possible to rent in summertime an appartment or dacha.
