Belgian Express
The second new building container carrier was called m.v. Belgian Express. The Hanjin Shipyard at Pusan delivered the vessel, yard no.080, to owners on September 7th 2000. The christening was performed by Mrs Kristin Callens and during the reception afterwards real Belgian beers were served to the people invited. Belgian Express was fixed for her fust eleven months' time-charter with China Shipping Container Lines and traded in the Far Eastern region. In February 24th 2001 vessel grounded on departure Ningbo. After a couple of hours vessel was re-floated with assistance of two local tugs and continued its voyage. After discharge of her cargo in Shanghai, vessel was dry-docked in same port to repair the bottom damage After completion of her first time charter vessel was fixed with Maersk for aD other time-charter of one year with options.
