Greetings!
My name is Bo Schreurs.
I was born on June 12th, 1958, in Antwerp (Belgium).
This makes me currently 48 years old.
Although I was born in Belgium, my nationality is Dutch.
As you can see from the picture, I'm male.
I program computers, to earn a living and as a hobby.
When I was young,
the video game industry was in it
infant days as well. The first video game I ever
played
was Pong. Not the Atari version, but a clone of it.
As most youngsters, I visited the Arcade Game Hall's a lot,
playing pinball,
and the latest arcade games.
Most arcade games were mechanical by the way.
You could be a submarine commander and sink ships with torpedoes.
Later on,
(simple) video games were introduced.
Spend a lot of quarters on Asteroids and such.
The first video arcade machine I bought myself was an Atari VCS2600.
Unbelievable graphics!
Arcade gameplay at
your
own home!
Game cartridges were expensive though.
$50-$100 for just
1 cartridge were considered normal.
The first programmable computer was a simple one.
It all started out with a S100 computer system from
Solid State Music (SSM Blue Boards).
The processor was an Intel 8080 processor and you had to
build the computer
by assembling it yourself.
Video memory was a whopping 1 KB and the Operating System
was another 1 KB.
One had to program the computer in hexcadecimal code.
I managed to program a kind of asteroids on it.
Not long after that, Atari released their Atari 400/800 system.
My brother purchased the 800, with the 810 disk drive.
We were hooked. And since then it is Atari all the way.
At this time we're more collecting it, then using it.
If you look
around on our website, you will notice that the
support for this machine supersedes the others.
Stick around and you will see why...
My brother and me are the producer of the Pooldisk.
The Pooldisk contains lot's of Atari related material.
Currently CD1 is Atari 8 bit only, while CD2 contains
other Atari material, commercials, photo's and such.
We're asked to produce a DVD version of it.
I'm planning this project for 2007.
A higher priority at this moment is updating and extendig my website.
If you want to contact me for information or want to contribute
to the Pooldisk or this website, drop me a line.
