Uriah Heep arrived Helsinki on May 14th, the day before the
concert in
Messuhalli. The warmup band was Babe Ruth from UK. They played
almost an
hour.
Then stage was setup for Heep. Band arrived to darkened stage,
effect was
watered down abit due to light Spring evening. Light spot to
David's face
started Stealin'. Easy start and then to full volume. After that
Heep
started doing new material from Wonderworld album, Suicidal Man
was next.
Ken Hensley switched to guitar. Together with Mick Box guitars
were very
powerful. Then Wonderworld which was more powerful on stage than
on album.
Byron and Hensley started Easy Road together. Ken played piano.
That ballad
worked fine. Then they continued with Something Or Nothing and I
Won't
Mind. After that show continued with old numbers. Hensley was
swaying from side
to side behind his organ when they started to play July Morning.
Mick Box
played his guitar like Jimi Hendrix in his best days. Guitar solo
in July
Morning was really powerful.
Mick's special was to throw guitar high up in the air and catch
it. At the
times he played guitar behind his back. Then to the next song
Easy Livin'
which caused audience to rush to the stage. That was end of the
set. Then
Heep came on stage for encores when confetti bomb was exploded,
audience packed in front of stage and Dave started
yelling with audience. Then we heard Look At Yourself as encore.
Dave was
fooling around stage wildly. LAY changed to Gypsy which was the
last song
of double encore. Lee threw his drum sticks to audience, band
bowed on
stage and left the venue. Tour continued in Scandinavia and
Europe. Then
followed the American tour when Gary got electrocuted in Dallas.
