Menu - Datamodeling

Menu_Datamodeling

For datamodeling the following EAR metamodel is used..

The datamodel is saved in 3 files:



ATR : The Attributes : the columns, to be used in the tables.

ENT : The Entities : the tables to be used. MEM : For each table the names of the members are named, which have a 1-n relation with the table. In this way the entities table contains the tree structure of the data-model.

REL : The Relations : contain the columns per table, where the key fields are also designated.

Menu-item : Attributes.

When maintaining Attributes, Entitities and Relations the files can be changed, in which the datamodel is stored. The &*ear*&-format for every file must be honoured. See Chapter Repository – Ear-datadictionary.

Menu-item : Check .

With the Check the consistency of the datamodel is checked and the datamodel is extended with owner information. The following aspects are covered. Are the members of the Entities unknown Entities genoemd. Do Attributes occurr double. Are the Relations unknown Entiteiten. Do the Relations use unknown Attributes. The owners are deduced from the datamodel and added to the repository. The result of the check consists of 4 files: log-file : sumary of errors found. gen-file : repository for the generation of products with Action-Scripts. doc-file : representation of the entities, with their attributes, owners and members. Journal file : contains extended logging.

Menu-item : Journal.

With the option Journal an exteded logging of the datamodel check is shown. The information can be used to see what information in the datamode are still inconsistent.

With the option Logging a short logging is shown wordt een beknopte logging of the datamodel check.
