This is the last official patch for Total Annihilation, that was released by Cavedog software before they fell a part. It will upgrade any previous version to 3.1c.

This *cough* unofficial *cough* patch will let you play the game without a cd. This is very handy, since CD's tend to get damaged and Total Annihilation is not available from any regular store anymore. What your downloading is the file totala.exe, without the cd-check, and with the 5000 units patch. However, if you just want the default unit count, open totala.ini and change 5000 to 500.

This patch will make the standard and lush trees (that is, most trees from the default maps) animated. They will wave in the wind. Nice!
If you want to create or edit maps, you need to download and install the tilesets the game uses. If you are able to download several files from 9-15 MB, then open this page (mirror of the official Total Annihilation web site). You only need to download the tilesets for the types of land you want to edit. I think (not 100% sure) you can just drop these tilesets in your Total Annihilation installation directory. After that, everything should work fine.

This map-editor, which was used to create the original maps, was released with the Core Contingency expansion. It's the only editor able to create missions! But be warned, it has some nasty bugs. Safe those open files frequently!

This free editor seems more stable than Taeblite, and has some nice features. First install the program, and after that, copy the file from the update-archive to the directory in which you installed Annihilator, and make sure you overwrite the existing annihilator.exe.
* My installation of Annihilator required some extra files. If you encounter any error with the file name comdlg32.ocx or comdlg32.dll in it, download my update script [144 KB (147,969 bytes)]. It will place the two files in your WINDOWS\system or WINNT\system directory, and register comdlg32.ocx (console / command-line: REGSVR32.EXE %WINDIR%\system\comdlg32.ocx).
Sorry for the title ;-). Nothing special at all, just a lot bigger then most original levels from Total Annihilation. 5 players, 1 in each corner and 1 in the middle. Enough resources to support a big fight.
