Een aantal jaren geleden heb ik het album "Live Book Don't Start Me Talking" van
Roy Book Binder gekocht. Ik liep de cd-zaak Kroese in Nijmegen binnen en daar werd
dit album in de winkel gedraaid. Ik heb dit album toen meteen gekocht de stijl en de
fantastische live-act van Bookbinder beviel mij meteen. Hij is een fantastische
fingerpicker en verteld daarbij nog ontzettend leuke verhalen, dat laatste daar
moet je natuurlijk wel van houden. Ik heb later nog een studio-album van hem
gekocht maar zijn live-opnames zijn en blijven toch het leukst.
Toen ik in december 2000 Florida bezocht heb ik hem live kunnen zien. Tijdens de
First Night in St. Petersburg trad hij daar op met voor hem Rock Bottom.
Ik wist absoluut niet wat en wie er allemaal zouden spelen en toen we
op de pier een programma in handen kregen wist ik meteen wat ik in ieder
geval zou gaan bekijken, Roy Bookbinder.
